Design & User Experience
During the winter of 2023 and spring of 2024, I had the opportunity to work with Semcon's Design & Digital Experience Department. Semcon is a global technology and consultancy firm specializing in product development, digitalization and sustainability solutions. This experience was part of my internship for my education Digital Designer (YRGO). Throughout my stay I had the opportunity to work with three different projects and customers; Fair Action, Blomsterlandet and Qualisys. The main focus has been on UX and UI, involving tasks such as developing UI libraries, components, stylesheets, conducting desk research, interviews, workshops, questionnaires and usability testing. Explore further details about these projects below.
*Note: At the current state some of the projects are confidential and have not been released yet, therefore I am only able to provide limited details.
FAIR ACTION
Fair Action is a non-profit organization working to ensure that companies take responsibility for their impact on people and the environment.
UX & Research
Project Overview
Semcon supported Fair Action with expertise in design and UX to increase their membership. This was achieved through analyzing the target audience of individuals aged 65 to comprehend their interests, thoughts and involvement in activities related to human rights, the environment and climate.
Challenges
Reaching Less Active Seniors
One of the challenges faced was physically reaching out to less active seniors to gather data.
Diversity in Participation
Ensuring a representative and diverse participant group to gain a broader understanding of the target audience.
Visualizing Data Effectively
Deciding on the most suitable type of graph for each area.
Approach
Diverse Outreach
To address these challenges, diverse approaches were employed, including physical and digital distribution of questionnaires, interviews and leveraging internal and external contacts, such as Fair Action's partner ABF Stockholm.
Categorization of Insights
To aid Fair Action in understanding the entire target audience and reaching out to less active seniors, insights are categorized into "non-association active" vs. "association active".
User-Centered Data Collection
Utilizing user-centered methods such as desk research, surveys, interviews and workshops to understand the audience's demographics and computer habits, needs, interests and motivations regarding sustainability initiatives
(Student Workshops
Additionally, workshops were conducted by my colleagues, involving YRGO-students to generate activity proposals and enhance the project's outcomes.)

The next phase involves integrating this digital map with real-time and historical weather data on an internal webpage for Blomsterlandet, aiming to optimize its purchasing, inventory management and customer advisory services nationwide.
Challenges
Enhancing Zone Map Usability
Improving accessibility and ease of use for users interacting with the digital zone map.
Smooth UX Flow
Creating a seamless and intuitive user journey throughout the map interaction.
Effective Data Visualization
Developing clear and engaging visual representations of data for better comprehension.
UI Design Alignment
Ensuring UI consistency with Blomsterlandet's branding and design preferences.
Design Consistency in Development
